Wayland Chu is an artist from Denver, Colorado. He graduated from The School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago in 2015, and has been exhibiting, as well as doing freelance work ever since.
Many of his pieces are done in mixed-media with unorthodox combinations of materials. His work blurs the line between contemporary non-figurative painting with classic illustration and draftsmanship. Chu’s figures are heavily distorted and radically malformed in an effort to explore what it is that makes someone “human”. Though his figures are unsettling at first glance, he invites the viewer to probe deeper into finding the commonalities that exist between different people.
