Frequently Asked Questions

What's Helikon's capacity?

Our total capacity is 220. Events in the main gallery with more than 100 people must rent an additional space, such as Gallery 101. Our spaces cannot seat more than 50 people, they are better suited to standing events.

Can we display our own art?

No, all exhibits on view must remain on view. Furthermore, existing work must remain lighted and visible.

Can we select our caterer?

Yes, you are free to use any approved caterer or rental company.

How much parking is there?

We have limited off-street parking (11 spaces + 1 handicap). Visitors are welcome to park along Wynkoop St. as long as they are not blocking entrances to businesses or driveways. We cannot control the possibility of our neighbors hosting events or utilizing public parking.

Is the art available to buy?

Yes, a staff member will be available to facilitate the purchase of art.

What art will be on display?

For most events that are less than 8 months out, we can usually give you an idea of which exhibit and artists will be in the gallery during your event.

Can we host live music?

Yes, we approve musicians and DJs on a case-by-case basis.

Is there food prep equipment?

We have a microwave available for use, but no other food preparation equipment. Caterers are welcomed to bring in their own equipment, or you may hire a food truck of your choice.

Do we need event insurance?

We hold our own insurance policy for artwork, but in the event of damage to our property or any artist’s property, the event holder is solely liable for payment. We strongly recommend that any event with more than 100 guests secure event insurance.

Never Stop Learning

Are you an eager student of the arts looking to hone your craft? Are you an artist looking to share your knowledge? Helikon hosts a variety of paid and donation-based workshops and learning events throughout the year. We believe it’s important as an artist to always remain a student at heart.

If you’d like to propose a workshop, demo, or learning event for our consideration, email us with a description of your concept, any relevant imagery, and a background of your experience.

SCHOOL Field trips

We host several field trips with local schools multiple times a year. Our passionate staff is thrilled to share the joy and story of art with the next generation. We discuss our exhibits, meet artists in their studios, and learn the story of art from cave painting to Pixar. Get in touch with us if you’re a teacher or parent who’d like to schedule a visit!
