This weekend, September 17-18, marks the seventh annual Colorado Crush street art festival, bringing talent from near and far to cover some prime walls around in the heart of RiNo in fresh new murals. We caught up with Helikon artists Vinni Alfonso and John Van Horn as they finished up their collaborative piece behind Larimer St, between 27th and 28th.

John and Vinni applied for a spot at Crush several months ago, and they have been working alongside Denver’s best street artists and others from abroad since Monday. The alley was bustling with activity on the hot Friday afternoon, with murals in various stages of completion and visitors already starting to admire the art. Some artists will be starting their murals on Saturday and live-painting throughout the weekend.
